Council of Elders
At the core of the governance structure of the Confraternity of St. Arethas and Companions is the Council of Elders, tasked with setting policies, strategies, and the overall direction of the confraternity in pursuit of its mission. Comprising experienced and respected members, the Council embodies the values and spirituality of the Confraternity, offering strong leadership and guidance to ensure its growth and success. Their role is pivotal in ensuring that all activities of the Confraternity remain faithfully aligned with its overarching vision and purpose.

Luca Maria Falzoni
President
Luca Maria Falzoni is an engineer with over thirty years of international experience, including a decade in the Gulf region. As an active member of the Catholic movement Comunione e Liberazione, he extends his missionary work beyond Italy to several countries within the Arabian Peninsula. His service to the local Church includes leadership of the Italian Catholic Community and memberships in the parish council for the International Community and in the Steering Committee for the Extraordinary Jubilee of the Martyrs in the Arabian Peninsula.

Dr. Emad Abboud
Vice President
Emad Abboud is a retina surgeon with 30 years of experience in the Gulf region, primarily in Riyadh and later in Abu Dhabi. Throughout his career, he has served the French-speaking community of the Church. Since 2021, he and his wife, Odile, have been living in Saint-Malo, France, where he is actively involved in several church ministries, particularly those focused on the sick and the elderly.

Manny Ducut
Member
Manny Ducut is an electronics and communications engineer by profession who spent over two decades in the Gulf working for the regional partner of IBM, a global technology leader. During his time in the Gulf, he served with distinction as the primary lay coordinator of a mission parish within the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia. In addition, he was the founding leader of a prayer group within the same parish. Manny and his family now reside in Ontario, Canada.

Jun Sarmiento
Member
Jun Sarmiento has over two decades of experience in banking and administration in the Gulf. His active involvement in Church ministries included serving as a lay minister, catechism teacher, and parish council member. He authored a book on the martyrdom of St. Arethas and Companions, which led him to join the Steering Committee that oversaw the celebration of the Extraordinary Jubilee of the Martyrs in the Arabian Peninsula.

Rob Douglas
Member
Rob Douglas is a retired military officer and former chief information officer who has lived around the globe and has more than five years of experience in the Gulf. He spends the majority of his retired life in service to the Church and others. His previous service to the Church has included faith formation at all levels, Catholic marriage preparation, and--with his wife--presenters for Worldwide Marriage Encounter. He currently serves as President of the St. Andrew Parish Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, is a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, and is an active Board Member of the Divine Love American Mission helping to build educational and training opportunities for those on the fringes of society in India.
